Green Tara

As a fully enlightened female Goddess, Tara is the actuality of compassion and wisdom, and meditating on her helps us awaken our own spiritual nature. Her right foot is slightly extended because she is ready to leap to the aid of beings. Buddha dispels fear and provides protection. Her right hand is opened out on her right knee. Hand makes the gesture of granting boons (varada). Varada (mudra) - The left hand, with the fingers pointing downwards, points toward the believer with an open palm, indicating that the god is prepared to grant a wish or bestow a blessing. Her left hand holds a Blue Utpala flower, representing purity ans spiritual awakening. She is considered by some to be the Original Tara and Mother of all Buddhas.
